A .png is in image file. You cant add a sound to it in any program at all. What are you trying to do? If you want a sound to play when somethign happesn you use the play sound behavior when that event takes place.

I'm confused. A .PNG file is an image file. If you are asking how to add sounds you just make them happen on an event and there is a sound behavior that you use.

The answer is no to both questions. What are you trying to do? (If we know what you're trying to accomplish, we may be able to help)

    Hi @MarcusO

You can't add a sound to a PNG file; perhaps you mean add a sound to an actor which has that PNG file as an image? If that's the case, just drag a Play Sound Behavior into the actor's Rules.

Edit: beaten to it by 3 goodly people... :-)

adding sound to a png file?
I think you got it a bit wrong , png is an image , it can't play sounds ,
However , in gamesalad , you can make an actor , apply an image to it , and drag a "play sound" behavior to it , this way you have an actor that has an image and it plays a sound..
I hope this is what you tried to do..
Oh and no , you don't need to be PRO to do it , it can be done with basic account.

    Thanks for the quick response.
I do apologize for the questions. I'm continuing to learn as i progress.
I'm just trying to make a splash screen for my game with a sound bite in it; kinda like the one that Game salad has that we see when we make a ad hoc game.

Ok i'm missing something here as i added a static file to the splash screen area when i was publishing and loading my game last night. I dont want a static file but the opening splash screen i have in my game as the opening scene..so should i have added the scene to the splash screen box...if so how would i do that?

No need to apologise, Marcus! We all had to start learning GS at some time (and we all continue to learn). Keep going, check out the many videos on GS as you can and it'll soon drop into place.

@Marcus0 To clarify, GS can only accept a single static image in the splash screen section (Despite that GS has a video for itself). This splash page cannot have any audio attached to it either.

On your background image in the scene, you can double click it and click the big lock image to unlock it. Then drag in a "play music" or "play sound" behavior, and select the sound or music file in the list. It will show all of the sounds or music files that you have imported into GameSalad, depending on what behavior you used.

And yes, you should watch all the Cookbook videos that are available, they will help you get a real good idea of the basics of GameSalad.

    One more thing.
So just a follow up question.
With the splash page being a static .PNG file.
When the game is first opened up how long does this splash screen page display for before it goes to the games first scene???
    Once again, thanks!!!

I remember the GS one is 4 secs, so I think the custom one will be the same
