i know we have had some unsavory folks in our community rip others off. I'm not sure if these apps were corrected. if it has, great, but if not it might be a good idea for GameSalad or at least those wronged individuals to step up and mention something. I know TSB and others have had problems with this. Maybe this will help minimize this from happening in the future.

Thanks
Caleb

You know the way that Gs has an extensive library of popular game mechanics such as "Bad da bump, Ninjump, Idot, Agro birds"
And these are all templates... Is it legal to change the art on these templates and public them as is without changing any code, Because they're basically just a newly coded clone of those apps they're made to be a temp for?

yea i can definitely see how people could and would do that, but to me i see a template not as a way to just reskin an existing game with different art / themes.. but rather to know how they do certain things to incorporate those mechanics into something new that may have pieces of another game in it. I think its safe to say all games borrow some form of concept from something that predated its creation.. everything from points to lives to hit points to levels, etc etc...

I personally find it very boring to straight up clone another persons game. There are so many cool ideas that haven't been explored yet.

    Thanks

I think cloning another persons game isn't nice! :) I use temps for learning code and if I do decide to use it for a publish I change some aspects to differ from the real game! ;)

yea that's how it should be. making "vegetation vs. undead" is not acceptable! The point is to learn and create something new... but sadly, if Zynga has taught us anything.. there is unfortunately a market for copying other peoples ideas..
