Groundhog's Day Madness - BOT & Arch Fiery FREE!

The legend of the Groundhog is that it can predict the future of Winter. But while the mayors of towns fight for their photo op with the local groundhog, something else will happen... BOT and Arch Fiery will be free downloads on the iTunes App Store.

Why do this? Well, I'm doing some forecasting of my own. Should I keep going with the game development thing? If so, how should it be done? The solution is simple. If I give away my best games for free... and people don't seem to care... then I'm wasting my time. But if there's a good surge in popularity, then maybe I should keep trying.

I don't normally do something like this. But so far, I'm happy with the results. It may have already been responsible for a small bump in sales of The Unofficial GameSalad Textbook. It's also been a nice boost in traffic for my website.

So hey, if you haven't already picked up BOT or Arch Fiery, they're set to be free downloads on February 2, 2012.

Good luck mate ... Regardless, i say stick at it, you seem passionate about your games and seem to enjoy doing them ... thats rule 101, it may not pay the bills but i guess it depends on why your in game dev for in the 1st place.

Already had both these games so no need for me to download :)

Thanks for the nice words. I do like making games. I'm happy with how the Groundhog's Day Madness event turned out.

This is not just a hobby to me though. To make great games, it usually takes a lot of time and/or a lot of money. If I do decide to make another game as big as BOT, my mood has to be a lot better. The BOT/Arch Fiery event was a nice way to add some fun back into game development.

No worries mate. Glad Groundhog's event turned out well.

I understand where you're coming from, I'm trying to do this not just for a hobby but with how my sales are, it has to remain that way! I do put a lot of my own time into it but couldn't afford to quit my job to do just it! Doing it how I'm doing means you can't really take the time you'd like to make a big and great game! Like BOT, i've put a lot of time and effort into Star Serum (Project Saber) which is nearing completion, will it pay off? Probably not and thats crushing, it makes you concentrate more on the smaller games! Thats not necessarily a bad thing, lots of small games make it huge! Maybe i just need to refocus my game design and tactics! Above all else though, it has to remain fun doing this!
