Availability Date

I just want to ask about publishing and setting the Availability Date - if I create an app in iTunes Connect, upload it, and set that I want it to be available let's sey next thursday.
What if app will be "In Review" the same day as the Availability Date (or later)? Will it be available the day I want, the next day, or I will need to set up a new date?
And if I set the Availability Date in May 2012, and game will be reviewd in two weeks, will it just wait till May?

I always published games as soon Apple reviewed them, this time I want to set it to be available in any thursday (as I heard it's best to publish this day).

Thank you!

The availability date is all messed up lately , (whats up with that??? wake up apple and fix the service for the developers who makes you money!!)
I suggest set the availability date to about 2 months ahead , and then when it approved set it "back in time" to where you want to release your game ,
I believe that is your best choice , unless someone will come up with a new method ..

    Cheers

I have given up on trying to manipulate the app store release date. I just set it to be released when they are done reviewing it. Screwed myself over once with a game that got buried on page 2 immediately upon release, and I'm not taking any more chances like that again. Initial release is important for that first exposure, and if that first exposure is on page 2 when it's released, it's very discouraging.

It's incredible that one of the biggest IT companies can't fix a problem so simple. Moreover it make them lose income because a game that could have gotten some decent first day sales will instead get nothing. I searched the internet a lot about this problem but nothing was ever done. @SaladStraightShooter in another thread said that they have contacts inside Apple to help them fix some problems. Maybe he can ask one of them an official word on that, or if there is a fail proof method to set the release and availability date right.
I think it's in GS best interests to help us getting more exposure on the AppStore.
