Status of Mac publishing issue (lack of icon in final build)

Checking in to see if the Mac publishing bug has been corrected or is close to getting corrected. It is almost 2 weeks now that this error is in place and I haven't been able to publish to the Mac App store.

Yeah I will have to put Tiny Diggers on hold too until this is fixed.

Issue where after you have published a Mac app and you try and upload it to Apple you get an invalid archive error...Bundle does not contain an Icon.
  • I am having the same issue when publishing to Mac, and I'm using 0.9.90.
Is there a workaround of fix for those still affected by this?

    Same thing here.

Arghhhhhhhh @SSS not sure how you didn't know about this bug. It has been around for almost 2 weeks now on the Mac side. It is seriously ruining my Valentine app release. Yes I contacted support and sent in my pkg and file to them to review as have others as well. I was hoping the new release fixed things but I guess not.
  • Hmm... the thing I don't get is that in my case there IS an icon in the proper ICNS format in both the app and the package.
  • @SaladStraightShooter - I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of, deleting app icon files and reloading, signing in and out of GS account before publishing, repairing disk permissions, creating new copies of project files, creating new project files, etc.

This is affecting ALL of my Mac apps that I'm trying to publish updates to. I doubt that all of my mac projects have the same problem, it must be issue with either GS creator or when it gets published. Seeing as all the files are there and everything seems legit before it gets published, my guess is something is going wrong AFTER the project is uploaded to GS on the publishing server.
These Mac apps work perfectly fine, they just have no icon, even though there IS an Icon.icns file and IconImage.png file in the published binary, although it appears the "Icon.icns" file is not 512x512 as it should be. I tried manually importing a 512x512 .icns file exported from Icon Composer, still no luck. Any suggestions to correct this issue? I know it seems to be limited to only some of us that are affected, so I wonder what the common thread is?
System details: Lion 10.7.2, GS 0.9.90, Xcode 4.2.1

@Holderness_Media_Inc contact GameSalad support and send them your GS file and I would think maybe the pkg that is generated after it has been spat out from GameSalad when publishing it. I sent mine in almost 2 weeks ago. It is an issue on the GameSalad publishing server...I think. Or contact them and they will contact you back with an email address or instructions on how to send it to them.

I know how you feel because I have a Valentine app this doesn't look like it is going to get on the Mac App store in time. As much as I appreciate the banner on the forum letting us know there is a publishing issue it isn't specific to the Mac App publishing process and it looks like it has unnecessarily wasted a large amount of your time.

Has anyone heard if this has been fixed yet? I don't want to waste my time doing another build to have it fail again.

Mine is still not working. I have several mac apps waiting to be submitted. Hope this isn't like the iPad splash screen bug that gets pushed to the back burner. This is very serious considering it makes it impossible to publish to the mac app store.

I just don't understand why we aren't getting any information on this problem. Seems like controlling template postings is more important than actually getting stuff published. Glad I am not Pro anymore. I would be livid if I were Pro now and this is exactly why I won't be in the near future. It will be 3 weeks tomorrow (Friday).

Yeh really can't see how this one isn't fixed yet .. my guess is it'll be fixed in the next update that comes out to the creator. Either way, a bit of clarification from @SaladStraightShooter would be good, this is dragging on now!

@SSS Wow! First off thank you so much for the information. I do appreciate it. I knew GameSalad was working on the issue but not getting updates on the issue has been frustrating. Hopefully you will understand this issue has been very frustrating especially since I wanted to be able to release my Valentine app on the Mac platform before Valentine's Day. Doesn't look like that will happen. Okay second off...is this forum NOT a way for GameSalad to communicate to their customers? Is this an unofficial forum? Do you not speak for the company? I understand you don't drive development or bug fixes, etc but you are the company's communicator to your customers. If this isn't the case I stand corrected but I always thought this was an official GameSalad forum. Thirdly, this issue has been around for 3 weeks now. I contacted support exactly 3 weeks ago. Your last response of the issue was on Jan. 20th. Plus there were a few other threads about this issue too. Your customers were craving for information on this issue but got none until today. What would you insinuate from the lack of an official response regarding this issue? Seriously think about if you were in our shoes what would you think? We just wanted an update and information, which you provided this morning. Fourthly, the banner on top is very much appreciated but it isn't specific enough...it makes it sounds like some customers can't publish to Apple when in fact Macintosh publishing is broken for everyone who wants to use it. It is my understanding the issue is only specific to Mac publishing and not any of the other systems. The banner is vague.
Lastly feel free to contact me directly if you would like or don't like what I communicate on the forum. I am trying really hard to be positive about GameSalad and really all I want and I think other customers want is information and to be kept up to date. Communication has always been a problem for GameSalad. It has indeed become a lot better over the last year but there is always room for improvement. I don't like airing dirty laundry on the forums as much as you don't like reading it. All I ask is keep us up to date on important issues like this one is. Thanks...hopefully no hard feelings :-)

I'm patiently waiting - but do we have we any ETA on this yet?

Also, will the fix only work with the new GS release - or can we publish with an older version and still benefit from the fix (I'm still a couple of versions behind as I know my finished game works great with that vers of GS)?

Also @SSS - as previously asked but not answered:

Will we have to update to the latest version of GS to be able to publish to Mac Store - or is the fix at your server end so that all versions of GS can publish Mac Store games?

The Black Bars of Death (Black bars on the sides of the screen when publishing at any size to the MAS) are still there too.

I do agree Race and i wouldn't if the word chosen was not imminent! If it was very soon, this week, tomorrow etc then fair enough ... imminent means like in an hour and his post was a couple of hours ago now ;)

@SaladStraightShooter - Im pleased they want to give it a final thrashing, how long is that likely to take? If goes well, would the release still be on for today or tomorrow? Not sure how long a test takes. Obviously if something is found then you can't determine the release date as it'll be ready when its ready but either way, knowing if it passed or not would be great :)
