Just thought I'd share this.
So following on from this thread http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/36900/release-date-got-screwed-up-by-apple#Item_15
I can confirm that it doesn't work - that is, according to Apple advice, once you set the release date, you shouldn't change it.
Here's what I did: when I created the app for the first time in iTunes connect, I set release date to 14/01/11, this was before I uploaded binary etc. and I did not change release date at all after that first time. I gave them about 7 working days to approve it, but Apple actually approved it earlier on 08/01/11 and that's what it shows on release date on the app store. It's nowhere to be found on new releases for today nor after clicking '25 more' twenty times.
I have an iPad app set to release tomorrow (15/01/11), again it was approved early on 10/01/11. I guess it's going to suffer the same fate.
I'm just wondering next time now, to change my release date to the approval date as soon as it gets approved.
Thanks again Apple. *@!#*

@beefy_clyro that seems to be the only solution now. No more wednesday night release to be picked up by Touch Arcade
