Hi all!

Curious how many have published to the Nook platform yet? If you haven't...first let me say it is a crazy process. First you have to fill out a form to see if they will approve you as a developer. The form reads like a freaking job interview. Crazy! Then once approved you have to set up your banking information and then get approved for that. Then you can start adding your app information. You start will the name of your app, etc...add your icon and screen shots and then wait for it...you have to wait for that information to be approved before you can upload your app! It didn't take to long for the, they call it, meta data review and once that is done I found the actual approval of the app went quick as well, just a few hours it seemed. Oh, also it looks like they only publish apps once a week. Butterbean mentioned it is usually Friday night or Saturday morning.

Thanks to Butterbean for her help in guiding me through the process. Oh...make sure you upload the SIGNED APK file. Amazon wants the unsigned APK file and the Nook needs the SIGNED one. That is an IMPORTANT fact to remember. Also the icon size is 300x300 and the screen shot size is 600 x 1024. Make sure transparency is OFF on the save images. They are picky :-)

Hope these tips help. So far my sales on the Kindle Fire have been horrible, but I just have goofy quiz apps on there. Supposedly if you get your apps in to the Nook folks by tomorrow you will be featured in there special app section over the next 2 months.

Good luck all!

Greg

i like how they approve your meta first so you don't end up working a million days and end up finding out that your concept won't even go.

I wanted to update this post with some more Nook experience I have had. First off Nook sales and downloads for me ARE far better then sales and downloads on the Kindle Fire. I am actually a bit shocked since there has been more buzz, both positive and negative, for the Kindle Fire. I have played with the Nook Tablet at a Barnes and Noble and do have to say it is a faster and smoother device then the Fire.
On another note I did have to STRIP out any background music I had on my apps. It seems music from the apps don't stop playing when you exit the app and go on to do other things in the Nook. I am not sure if this is a GameSalad issue or not but all my apps that had music needed to be reworked or stripped out. Apps that play background music will get rejected or at least all of mine (4 that I submitted) were and had to be redone. The sound lag issue also appears on the Nook as well. I am not sure if this is going to be fixed by GameSalad or not. I haven't seen any suggestions from GameSalad on work arounds on this issue.
Anyone else have any Nook experiences to share?

Well I have to say so far sales of my apps on the Nook vs. sales on the Kindle Fire, the Nook is winning BIG TIME for me. I did see a spike in Kindle Fire sales yesterday (xmas day) but overall the Nook sales are by far the big winner. Have to say I am really really shocked since I don't know anyone that was going to get a Nook Tablet for the holiday this year. Everyone I know got a Kindle Fire. But hey I have to say go Nook go!

Anyone else seeing good Nook app sales over Kindle sales?
