I just finished uploading an update to The Unofficial GameSalad Textbook. This new version includes updated information for GameSalad 0.9.88 and a new text zoom feature. Since it's an update, I figure that Apple should approve it by the end of the week.

Great work! i would highly recommend this to all new users and i think GS should strike a deal with you and give it away with pro or something as it would cut down on the beginner questions on the forum.

EDIT: not that this book is aimed only at the beginners but you know what i mean.

If I add videos to the app, it would easily bring the book over 20MB... and that could hurt sales. I have been considering videos for a new PDF book, but I still have some testing to do.

Thanks! I think that GameSalad should do the same with your helpful GameSalad apps.

I've been wondering what to do about GameSalad. It would be nice if the book became official. Also, I've been wondering if I should launch my sound effect files on the Marketplace. I'm not sure what could happen about the book, but I have been wondering about publishing my sound effects through GameSalad. I'm going to think about it today... maybe I'll make another post about it too.

    @photics

I think maybe you can make an iap with the videos, that will bring sales and won't effect the orginal app download

    Here's some good news...

The Unofficial GameSalad Textbook just returned to the "What's Hot" list for iPhone Apps (Books). I think this shows that it can be beneficial to keep up with your successful apps. A strong update might make the app popular again.

I think make it cheaper and add video once we have. IAP will make the book better

Are you inciting people to attack the system?

No, they are stating that now users will feel justified in ripping things apart to figure out how to keep it running for free, and a server login does nothing to stop it

I am absolutely fascinated as to why and how you picked a 4 year old thread to resurrect to make that comment.

This thread is old, odd thing to comment on in the context of thread as well. :worried:

A lot of what Gamesalad does to images, etc happens server side. This is somewhat of a safety net to prevent this.

Also, adobe is like the #1 pirated software suite... Guess what model they use for payment now days?

Well, check any pirate site to see how that strategy is going. ;)

Bizarre thread necro, but let's put it this way: anybody who utilizes a hacked version of GS to build a game still has to talk to us to get a binary they can publish.

Lol, it's not to prevent piracy that they made the change. There will always be piracy. They did it to bring in more people who were honest but couldn't afford a massive up front payment.

Adobe doubled up there profits as soon as the suite became available as a cloud service as compared to the last year at the same time. So yes, it was effective. Very.

Yes Sir :) I thought the mighty Photon himself had returned to bounce some luminosity on the issue.

I have no interest in using a pirated GS. It is simply the reality of the world. Interpol may show up one day, but the FBI will not. They want nothing to do with our family, we have sort of a free ride with them. I don't even try to cover my tracks.

BTW, Microsoft has the most pirated software in the world; why else would DDoS attacks be so easy to pull off?
