    Nope
You only get the new release list when you are a new release. On the device at least. I think the actual itunes listing will mix your updates in but those lists are not looked at nearly as much.

Bummer :( What do you mean by "I think the actual iTunes listing will mix your updates in but those lists are not looked at nearly as much." Though?

well you can delete the app and republish

then you will got the second chance to let people no your apps(or simply just make another version which is the same thing as the old one)

Would Apple accept and not reject another version of the app that is exactly the same?

Yes Updates Are Now Treated as New Apps on The App Store!

I released many apps before christmas and get excellent exposure

Thankfully apple will a new submission of the same exact app. And i dont recommend you do what calvin said, that will just piss off your customers as they will have to buy twice to be able to update.

I mean in itunes on your computer I noticed the listings by release dates mixed new apps and updates. Although on the device im pretty certain it does not work the same unless Apple has changed things again.

And Calvins suggestion will only piss people off. I don't recommend that. Apple would also prop put a stop to it if you did it often.

Yeah they have 2 of the exact same apps. I'm not sure if it would make people mad or not?

Just read the 2 linked posts and checked the app store to see that updates do now infact appear on the new release list.

Man, this is really really bad for us all. It looks like our new releases will off the list in a matter of hours now, meaning hardly any exposure for all our hard work... and meaning that we're probably going to find ourselves having to release spam updates along with everyone else just to get people to see our games.

Another stupid move by Apple in my opinion :-(

On the other hand, we may not have as many dead apps. I used to develop apps that would spike upon initial release and then get minimal downloads afterwards. I would hardly ever update. I have been more motivated to work harder on updates because I know that my work will not go unnoticed. In my opinion, this new system is good for exposure. I actually hope that apple continues to put updates in with the new releases. I think it is a good move on apples part because developers are less likely to drop support for their apps.

Updates are such not a new release and does not bump you up.

If you want exposure you have to market your games. I think many people get the impression if you make it they will come. This is never been true in any business and if you realize it or not this is a business and being a great developer needs to go hand in hand with being a good business person. If you don't learn how to be a good business person you won't make it long term. Take for example Tshirtbooth he does both really well.

    I send 5 updates, 1 game i change in 80 %.

I never advertise my game and making 100 $ per day

alek, I am making about the same. and this update thing gave me a second chance to bump my app into the top 100 for strategy games. If my update did not go to the top of the new release section, my big update would not have gotten enough exposure to do so and my app would be slowly dying. Sometimes we don't think of ALL the features we want to add on the first release and being on the new release page for even one day is better than having no exposure for new additions and hard work.
