Release before or after Christmas?

Hey guys. So my first app is shooting to be done late November, early December, and I was wondering if it would be better to submit it to the app store before or after Christmas. Is there any reason to have it out after Christmas, instead of before? Thanks!

from past experience's all the big guys such as EA tend to put all there stuff on sale during christmas time making harder for us little guys.

Just do it before. Think positively! Somebody wants to buy. ( I hope! ) ;-)

"Undercutting" is what you might such pricing,
but I think they do it just to sell a lot of copies, not really to hurt us ( the indies ) per se.

Maybe release it before Christmas for the 100% price and during Christmas put it 50% off to be competitive with everyone and then put it back to 100% after.

Thanks for all the awesome suggestions! If anyone else has ideas, please tell!

EDIT: quick question, can you have an app at 30 cents or like 69 cents?

no you select your app prices based on tiers made by apple. The lowest paid tier is .99 cents

I would have a hard time waiting, I would be too excited to release it. I say go ahead and do it. It's your first game, I am sure you will have others, bigger and better ones. Maybe keep in mind for next year that perhaps December isn't the best time.

I guess I gave you some bad advice, I am reading in other threads were lots of people are saying no do not release at Christmas time. Better go with them!

I didnt want to come in here sounding like a broken record but trust me, you only get one chance at a release and we have all been VERY disapointed with chirstmas releases.

Well at the risk of sounding like an idiot, our apps did really well during Christmas last year. We didn't release a new one in December or anything, but sales sky rocketed during the annual iTunes Connect shutdown. I know this is common for most of us because of the fact that people are getting iDevices for Christmas and are dying to find some great games for them. With that being said, we are planning something big for December this year. I've been going back and forth about it after reading these threads, but I think it is imperative to have some great games out by Christmas so hopefully those getting new iOS devices for the holidays can enjoy them. Just my two cents...good luck with what ever you decide!

It's lucky they DONT let us price below 99c, or else Apps would become really devalued. ;-) I already see people complaining about how a particular app they bought wasn't worth $1 or 2??

You would give that much to a beggar in the street!
That's the cost of one bottle of soda!
    Keep it in perspective, shoppers.

Only a few years ago, computer software cost a LOT more.
    Don't you remember a new NES cart going for $60 + ?
