Goodbye, and Good Luck

I’m saying goodbye to everyone here on the GS forums.

It’s my time to move on. Not to something that’s better--but to something different. I’m realizing more and more that I am not a programmer--I’m a concept/idea generator, not a “doer” (at least in the field of app development).

I haven’t released anything good. In fact, I’ll eventually be removing my games from the App Store. But I have learned a TON--knowledge and experience I’ll carry far into future.

I’ll be selling my mac mini to fund my future entrepreneurial projects. I’m considering publishing short ebooks on the Kindle--we’ll see. I look forward to seeing the Android apps coming from GameSalad.

Thanks for your wonderful help everyone. This community has been so incredibly helpful.

I’ll definitely return to GameSalad if app development interests me in the future.

I wish everyone well on their future and current projects.

Good luck. Keep being Indie.

What platform to you plan to use for Kindle, have you thought about doing stuff on the Fire?

Thanks for all the kind words Rob, Matt, and Matt.

Yes, I think the Kindle is going to revolutionize the tablet market--and I want to get an ebook out there, just to be involved in some way. I definitely want to get in the Android market---until I have a better mac, I'm not sure if I'll be able to (every update of GS makes it go slower--my productivity is at zero right now).

I hope to release some android app--especially if GS comes to Windows (I know it can't for iOS apps--but it could for Android!!!)

Corona is rocking with Windows for Android already :)

Jb15 I think your templates are well done, I know that I have enjoyed them. Also, the short amount of time I dealt with you, you had excellent communication skills which seems to be in short supply these days.

If you end up selling anything off, let me know. I would be interested in your scribble balls template if you have one.

    Yeah--but that's code....

    *Shivers and fear*

    I'm no programmer.

Then again, that could be the next learning project for me--learning corona. I'd have a hard time, though--besides, it won't be long until GS is out of beta, doing android, and (Please, please, please GS employees!!!) supporting Windows... (Please?)

With plugins like KWIK and the great comic book templates you wouldn't have to write a line :)

    Yep... http://blog.anscamobile.com/2011/05/introducing-kwik-a-photoshop-plug-in-for-corona-sdk/

Well, maybe a few lines :P But nothing that you can't learn in a day or two.

Wow, that's pretty interesting. I've never thought of Photoshop as a iOS dev tool (beyond graphics).

It'll be interesting to see if other 3rd party tools come out. Everything in technology happens so fast--I guess that's why I like it.

EDIT: More kind words! Thank you everyone. It's sad to leave, but I'm looking forward to writing for a time, and then pursuing other adventures.

I'm not so sure that's a good idea...

Yeah--might that be from the type of book though? If someone is into iOS development, they probably own the hardware to purchase your book on iTunes. Plus, the Kindle is mostly (at least from how I've seen people use it) for novels or similar books. Not very many "Guides to ____" books.

But then again, I only know a few kindle owners--but with the Fire, and with the cheapest kindle now being $79, I think more and more people will begin to read on their ereaders/tablets.

I don't think so. I have two books on the iTunes App Store... Revisions and The Unofficial GameSalad Textbook ...Revisions did far better on iTunes than Kindle. (It wasn't hard to beat zero.) Revisions is a science fiction book. Even on Android, Revisions was more successful.

The Kindle Fire... I read something about the iPad mini... I don't think Apple is going to let Kindle run away with the market.

That's amazing. I didn't know they were working on a mini ipad. That could definitely change things--a ton.

Phonics--do you mind me asking, money wise, would you suggest ebook publishing or app development? I feel like I really need to write this one ebook, but maybe I should hang onto my mac...

It's bedtime here, but I'll check back tomorrow.
