Yes GS will be compatible with ios 5. As devs Apple sent us builds of iOS 5 months ago and we have been testing out apps made with GameSalad on iOS 5 and they work great.

I dont wanna turn this into a Big argument over memory issues. But I think its crap to blame GameSalads memory management Lackings as the reason your game crashes on an iPhone 4. With proper coding you can do a lot on a iPhone4 without crashing and I mean a lot.

Sorry for the rant but thats just a cop out. Back to the subject at hand now.

No apology necessary. I agree that with proper coding a lot can be done without crashing on an Iphone 4. I wasn't intending to rag on GS. I love GS. And I know they are working on the memory management issues and I love that they are making it a priority. I just wanted to point out that the Iphone 4s will not solve the issues. It will take an underlying change in the way GS deals with assets etc... Again, I know they are working on that, so awesome. That all said, the fact is that the memory management is simply not great right now (regardless of whether you can work around it). Not completely horrible either, but certainly not great. I am just looking forward to the improvements, whenever they come. Things like being able to release memory (e.g., when destroy and actor) will make game creation much faster as well (i.e., won't have to recycle actors but can spawn). I know that recycling works but it would be nice if I did not have to do it for things like bullets etc.... and would save me tons of time.

Its pretty much consistent with their past practice. A small update between major updates. Think 3GS or IPAD2. I, for one, kinda expected it. But I was still disappointed a little.

No, you will have to close off your GameSalad account and wait patiently for an email from Steve Jobs informing you when compatibility is ready. This is my signing off post. Bye!

    I don't think it's Steve Jobs anymore.

Does sir (voice recognition) come with ios5 or do you have to have an iPhone 4s because it's not really a hardware thing?
  • Did anyone else notice improved loading times on their GS games when running on iOS5?

I had ios5 beta on a 3rd gen iPod touch, and it loaded my game roughly 2 seconds faster than the same build running on my iPhone 4 running ios 4.3.5. Going to install iOS 5 GM on my iPhone and see if it loads even faster.

    AAARGUH!
I think that might be a problem though, iPod touch owners that buy the current iPod won't be able to run it, which might mean angry customers with an iPod they thought could run Siri (their problem that they didn't check, though)
I bought an iPod Touch 4th Gen about 4 months ago, and now they are releasing something that will only run on the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S! Ridiculous! I mean, they can't make a version with a little less features for a generation ONE below the current? There is the voice control on iPhone 4 but it is

From what I've heard, Siri is very memory intensive and so is only possible on the iPhone 4S's 1GB of RAM.
