Hi,
I am very very very non artistic, and i can't handle the pressure of all the layers all pizzazz of the softwares like Photoshop and Gimp, even fireworks...
How about a free software that makes lines (ie vectors) a few colors..
I want to do my prototype, then have someone fine tune the looks
Thanks for any suggestions

Or for Vectors, either take on Adobe Illustrator (bit of a steep learning curve perhaps), or even use Adobe Flash, the vector tools in that work so well and do what you'd expect. Free demo's of both.
Anyone know of any actual full free vector software?
You don't have to use layers in Photoshop, but you should.
It is not a big deal and not hard to understand. Photoshop is the best software for making art. Period.
You could use Painter on Windows or Pixen on Mac, but both are just crap :-P
You can use corel draw for vector art.
And read the FAQ :-P

It seems to be almost as good as Photoshop, but possibly slightly simplified, so you might have an easier time learning it. Also, it's totally free!
You really should take the time to learn about layers though - they're not going to go away, and they're really very useful!
oh, while I'm here, how about this?...

Thinking about it, this is probably a better option for you - also totally free, but you don't even have to install it, it runs in your web browser!!

QS, do you draw with Pixelmator?
It just loads a bit faster, and is easier to use as far as I can tell, than Photoshop!
If I *am* doing simple stuff like a box or a line or editing something, I use Pixen.
