Flapcraft is a new cheerfully addictive game for iOS devices developed by the Pixelmator team. For the uninitiated, Pixelmator is a fantastic “Photoshop replacement” app for the Mac — one that’s actively developed and that will make you feel at home on the Mac when you use it. So it’s no surprise that a game designed by them is featured on Beautiful Pixels.
Everything about Flapcraft has been designed and illustrated entirely in Pixelmator. In fact, the game was discovered and then developed during beta-testing of Pixelmator’s 2.0 painting engine. Like most of the graphics on the ‘Learn‘ section of their site, the game features some absolutely stunning illustrations and delightful animations. If you have an iPhone 4, these illustrations on the Retina Display are going to leave you mesmerized. The gameplay is fun and addictive and features step-by-step tutorials as well. Flapcraft is an accelerometer based game — You control the viking’s flight by tilting your device. There are in-game purchases upgrades too. I love the level select screen, specially how the wooden boards hanging by the ropes sway independently when you swipe.
