Custom Splash screen on iPad

Sorry if this has come up before but I searched and found nothing.

I was wondering what size of image the custom splash screens on the ipad had to be. I have tried the sizes I would have expected e.g. 1024x768 however nothing seems to work.

    I don't understand why it's this way, but the dimensions should be... 768x1004 for the portrait mode.

    Thanks a lot. Its now working.

    Its got to be 1024x748 for landscape and 1004x768 for portrait.

    This is because the iPad system bar at the top takes up 20 pixels(i think)

    1024 - 20 = 1004 pixels.
