I'm deploying my iphone app onto MAC OS. What should the backgrounds be resized to?

I created a background 1280 x 800 .png and tried to import it into Game Salad and get the reply : image is too large to safely use in game salad

GameSalad gives me the option to resize the image. The new image is 1024 x 640.

But this new size image is not large enough to cover the mac viewing area.

I have to stretch the image back to 1280 x 800 after the down sizing and import.

    1280x720

The 11" MacBook Air's resolution is only 1366x768. It's best to keep to 720p. ;)

Thanks for the response! But I tried 1280 x 720 and I get the same message:

image is too large to safely use in game salad

I get the option to resize the image and game salad sizes it to : 1024 x 576

still too small to fill the background

I think the max size for an image is 1024x1024, so you'll have to cut your background in two, and position it in GS.

Isn't there a skip option during the warning message? Or does that cancel the import...

No GameSalad can only handle dimensions as large as 1024 So that why its resizing. I have heard of people going in and manually changing the image in the project file to a larger file but i'm not sure what all goes into that.

1024 . . . that makes it harder on iPad and Mac developers
