Love the graphics, reminds me of the old school paper-flip animations! Shoot me a code and I'll send you one for mine -- we can swap reviews. Can't wait to play!

Hey this looks fantastic, love the visuals you have going on here!

If you have a promo I'd be happy to leave you a review.

My only concern is that the main character doesn't appear to move very fast, but I suppose if the gameplay is designed around this then it should play fine. I'm used to shmups so probably just me!

    Thanks for showing us.

@MrAndersen, I'm going to leave you a review on the appstore, but I don't want you to be disheartened by it. I will re-review and up the score if the game is updated and a few issues addressed.

I'm not going to slag it off or anything on the appstore, I'd give it 3 stars now and just say something along the lines of: it's a great game with beautiful graphics and excellent atmosphere and good variety of levels and enemies, however there are a few issues most notably with the controls which prevent the game from being more enjoyable to play and scoring higher.

If you don't want me to review it I won't yet.

But I'd strongly suggest an update at some point that fixes the movement controls, at the moment they are quite frustrating to use. Maybe take a look at deep blue apps controls template, they have a great joystick that would work fantastically on this game. I'm sure someone else could point you to a free alternative example.

Also, there seems to be some background textures that don't join up properly, these ruin the overall great looks of the game.

My only other issue is that the menu screens seem quite dark and difficult to see on my iPod Touch, in-game is fine though.

On the whole, great job, but I wouldn't just leave it at that. I'd tweak the things I've mentioned, and a few other things and you'll have not a great game on your hands, but a fantastic one!

    Cheers

ps. get back to me about the review, and i'll put one up still if you want.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Seems like controls should be my first priority in my first update. I don't personally think they are too bad but I agree that an analog pad would probably fit the game better.

Yeah, it's not that they're too bad, they just feel a bit awkward and I found that during play I was struggling to move to where I wanted to. I think the game would benefit from the addition of smoother controls. As the enemies got harder to kill, I found myself getting more frustrated with not being able to move where I wanted to instinctively.

But like I said, it's still a great game. IF the controls are tightened, it'll be epic. :)

Hey, so did you want proper feedback on your game? Or just an app store review?
  • MrAndersenMrAndersen Member, PRO Posts: 66
    Both would be nice :)

Overall, sales have been pretty bad so far which isn't exactly too encouraging. Pocket Gamer posted the trailer on their site today (it's still on the front page) but it doesn't look like it's had any impact on sales whatsoever.

At least, I've enjoyed creating the game and it's nice to see that a few people are playing it :)

Since sales aren't going too well I've decided to make Cute Shoot! free for a couple of days.

So, go get it boys and girls :)
