My app has been approved in the app store!

This is the mythological version of the historic Mongol Invasions of Japan. Play as the old-school Shinto gods of Wind and Thunder to keep the invaders from taking over the island nation. The actual typhoons which sunk the Mongol fleets over 700 years ago spawned the term "Kamikaze," also known as the Divine Wind.

Looking really original, David; loving the storm effect and sound effects too; impressive. Best of luck with it. :-)

PS I won't take a promo code: my wife has an iPhone but I don't, and it really is difficult to get to use it (that's not a cop-out, honest; she needs it for charity work).

How do these promo codes work? Will this game work on an iTouch 1G?
  • DaibusshiDaibusshi Member Posts: 47
Thanks for the compliments, gyroscope! If you change your mind, you can use a code & tell your wife "Hey... check out this nifty little game I got for you!" :-)

svn, I'm afraid I set my app to work on a iOS 4 or higher. It is quite the memory hog when there are many ships on the screen at once. I also have a G1 touch, and wasn't able to test it on the device. My G4 touch was smooth as I could hope. I'm sorry if this keeps you from getting your copy of the app! But you could always download it to iTunes and it'll automatically save the app in your iCloud for when you upgrade your device someday.

The promo code works as a "redeem" in iTunes. Just log into iTunes and paste the code in the redeem section (found in the upper right of the iTunes home page) -- instant app! Hope you choose to grab one of the codes above. Thanks!

Good one! I know THOR is the most well known god of thunder, but there are many indeed! Just trying to throw a little culture into the forums here! :-)

Thanks. And I'm aware of the existence of other gods of thunder. I believe your trailer told me I was, in fact, god of thunder, so there's one.
Your game looks great. Good luck with it.

    Sorry I missed this, somehow.

I love the presentation and the idea for sure - it looks lovely.

I'm not too sure about the boats though - I haven't played it, but from the vid, I don't know... it kinda looks odd.

    Maybe it's just me?

Everything else though looks awesome :D

    Good luck!

Thanks QS! Feels great to have a thumbs up from a Sous Chef!

The boats may appear odd at times, but they play just fine. It's a slight struggle I had with simulating a 3D approach/range in a 2D plane. Reminds me of what Gary Larsen used to say about getting only one shot at portraying depth in his single-panel Far Side Cartoons. But when I have different size boats moving at different speeds, the random overlapping sometimes plays tricks on the eye. Regardless, when the ocean is full, it's time to panic...!

I can PM you a code or you can try the LITE version which should be available this week sometime. Let me know if you'd like a copy of the game. Cheers!

Thanks for the promo code, David! I downloaded your game. It's very well-made with a lot of polish. The graphics are great and the 3D effect on the boats is really well done (it's much better in the actual game than in the trailer). The game can get quite frantic between striking down the invading boats and recharging the power meter. I had some targeting issues where it seemed like I was clicking on the icons to charge the power meter but it wasn't registering (but that could be user error!).

Anyway, it's a great and unique game, especially for your first! You should be very proud and I hope it's successful for you. I look forward to seeing what other games you create in the future.

Thanks, Jeff!! It means a lot to me to receive such a positive review. The game is pretty tough indeed, but 100% beatable (I've done it... but not always on the first try!). I just didn't want to put a game out there that could be mastered & beaten in 10 minutes.

The drums are timed to destroy after only a couple of seconds if not tapped. It's designed to keeps your fingers hopping. I'm oft-times too late to strike them myself!

    Secrets:

    • Every 50 seconds that a typhoon is not used, a red ship comes by that's worth 1000 points. But if you use a typhoon -- the timer for the red ship resets to zero.

    • Shake the iPod (as an alternative to tapping the face) to activate the typhoon.

    • "Prayer camps" are programmed to increase by one every 100 seconds in 1274, and every 200 seconds in 1281. You'll need as many as you can get when those ships really start rushing the screen!

Hope it continues to be a fun game to play!
