app store screen shots orientation and load screen transition questions

I'm close to publishing my first game and a couple questions.
I've noticed some have horizontal screen shots (danger cats!) and other are sideways in vertical form (zombies vs. nijas) and some that are mixture of both (red block remover lite). At what point in the submission process do you make that decision? Is there anything special you have to do to make sure your screen shots are not sideways?
I've got a pro membership and have a loading screen that I want to be the same as the first scene. I see there is the option of fading out the load screen (which obviously I don't want to do), but if I choose not to do that, will there be any kind of interruption between the load image and first scene... in other words, will there be some sort of short flash? (which I don't want)

If your game is in portrait mode, make sure your screenshots are too when you submit them!
If it's in Landscape mode, make sure your screenshots are too when you submit them!
It's down to you to choose the orientation of your pics when you upload them to Apple
