I opened a poll on whether or now I should go DIY with graphics just last week. The overwhelming majority advised me to go DIY. So I did. Now I want o know what a good drawing program would be( Yes, people gave suggestions, but I want an organized list.) I want cartoony-style graphics. What program should I use?

I use illustrator day to day and there are MANY things you can do with it. Maily, if you are trying to achieve an angry birds, or cartoon look, illustrator is your best option. Although photoshop can do this too. Photoshop can also do many other things illustrator can't. But You can re-size your graphics in illustrator and they won't get pixelated. I would recommend trying to get both but illustrator or photoshop would be a good option.

Illustrator will help you create crisper graphics using vectors (which would keep them scalable) and with the gradients and the ultra-cool text effects you should be able to create very high quality graphics. Photoshop is good for backgrounds (if you want to create a disney animation effect - with the backgrounds subdued and the characters crisp). I don't know if you already have Flash but if you are good at manual drawing, Flash can really speed up your drawing.

Oh...and you said Cartoony Style graphics - Flash or Illustrator would be best for you.

I use both illustrator and photoshop. But i prefer photoshop as it is what i did from the start.
But let me tell you for vectors you use illustrator but in photoshop you can do anything.
Or better just make your graphics high resolution in photoshop so you can resize it to fit your needs.

Flash is my prefered programme. It incredibably easy to use, and far quicker to learn than illustrator - though illustrator ultimately can deliver better results.

I couldn't imagine not having Photoshop too though, its such a great gfx prog.

Spend one week watching tutorials and doing tutorials on Photoshop.

Spend one week watching tutorials and doing tutorials on Illustrator.

Those two weeks will translate into an incredible growth of your ability as a graphic artist. I use them both depending on the project.
