Question for people with a Wacom tablet

DreamLabDreamLab Member Posts: 2,127
Ok so I have been saving up lately for a wacom cintiq 21ux

http://wacom.com/en/Products/Cintiq/Cintiq21UX.aspx

and I am about half way there. I am thinking about settling for the cheaper cintiq, but I doubt it.

For people with bamboo tablets or an intuous, should I get one just for now until I DO get a cintiq? Is it worth the money to spend on?

or would I end up just using it to mess around with and not for production.

Thanks!

I have not seen individuals using cintiq.I have seen the artists use the wacoms only.
But i have seen in studios they do use cintiq but it is used for production of movies matt painting and devloping concept artwork for high end games and movies.

As for a personal user i prefer intuos and for starters there is bamboo.

I would get the bamboo. It is my first and only tablet, but has far exceeded my expectations and does everything as well or better than I could've hoped for. I will get a nicer Wacom with more hot buttons and such in the future when this craps out, but I'd be surprised if a Bamboo didn't meet your expectations.

Not exactly the answer I was looking for but, what I am saying is I wouldn't call myself a beginner, but I need something to keep me going until I have the money for a cintiq. I am just curious if people with a bamboo use it for production or just for fun, same for people with an intuous.

Intuos for production. But still if you are good enough bamboo can give that results also.
I tell you what i used my laser mouse for a good time when i had no option and still got the results. But for now i think intuos is a very good option.

I use a Bamboo Fun. It's the biggest tablet in the bamboo line, and it works great. A Centiq would be awesome, but maybe a bit overkill. But man, what cool overkill it would be.

Bamboo fun works for me, and the Intuos 4 has twice the pressure sensitivity as the Bamboo tablet line does, but the Intuos is not necessary for me, personally.

Im considering it now. So the bamboo fills all of your needs to do game art?

I just need a good tablet to get until I get the money for a cintiq. The reason I ask, is because most of the youtube videos I have seen about the bamboos are just kids using it to fool around in kid pix or another doodle program.

    thanks for your responses!

I use the bamboo pen and touch, I love it _ i disable the touch and can even rest my hand on the pad while im working. unless you just want something that someone else says is better i would get this one.

I use 6 different art programs and it works with them all.

Thanks everyone, I have decided to get a Wacom Bamboo Fun pen and touch tomorrow. I'll see how I like it, otherwise, that 200 bucks goes back to my cintiq fund!

Again thanks everyone for the tips

Look on Amazon, you can get it cheaper there. I got mine for $160 instead of $200.

Well I ended up getting a Wacom Intuous 4 medium size and it has been great all day! Im starting to get the hang of it. Making art is going to be so much more fun and hopefully easy!

Well...as you've already bought your tablet, this doesn't mean anything - but I have had an intuos 3 for the last 4 years and I haven't felt a need to buy cintiq :)
