Losing Sound Effects but not Music? Mac App Store

Hi..
Rebuilding some older games for the MAS....weird the builds play fine (music + sfx) on a newer iMac and newer Macbook but not a 2-year old Macbook Pro. Lose all sound effects.....All have similar OS?
Any ideas? These are desktop builds for the Mac App Store...
