Are you looking for a new action puzzler iPhone app? Do you want a little bit of chicken-coop flavor added to your strategy? If so, then look no further: Rolling Eggs , an iPhone app by developer Creview, will certainly ruffle your feathers.

My iPhone app review unveiled that the gameplay of Rolling Eggs is best described as a puzzler with a twist: The player is charged with directing an egg—which is unceremoniously launched from a chicken at the top of each level—to a target nest along the bottom (or elsewhere, depending on the layout). To do this, the user must navigate several different obstacles by directing the egg’s trajectory with wooden planks. The egg will roll, bounce, and teleport its way about the level until it (hopefully) lands in the proper place.
Rolling Eggs’ game mechanic offers a lot of complexity, and best of all the developers have well-spaced the app’s new features. Every four or five levels a new obstacle is introduced until the levels themselves become more expansive and more challenging. This sets an even rate of play for the app, and helps goad the player along.
The newly updated version 1.1 offers Gamecenter integration, which adds to the overall fun factor and competitive aspects, raising the enjoyment of this game up a notch.

It’s worth noting that Rolling Eggs is very slow on the iPhone. I’m unsure why exactly this is, or even if it can be fixed, but it’s easily the biggest drawback to the iPhone app. Loading times between levels and during the app’s start-up are practically unbearable, especially when the level has to reload after each failed attempt. Likewise, I did experience a few bugs with moving planks, as they were sometimes unresponsive.
Thankfully, the game looks amazing on the iPhone’s Retina Display. The art-style is perfectly matched to the gameplay, and all of the sprites have obviously been given a great deal of care. The chickens’ expressions were particularly enjoyable, as they hilariously react to either a delivered egg or a dropped piece of egg-shelled hope.
Similarly, the puzzles themselves are often brilliant, requiring just the right amount of strategy, planning, skill and luck to finish. The developers have created loads of interesting twists to keep the gameplay fresh—my favorites are the egg-transporting clouds—and its obvious that a great deal of thought has been put into level design. The end result is a wealth of one hundred levels, each with enough fiber to keep the player engaged.
    Overall Value
At the end of the day, Rolling Eggs is an iPhone app that offers a lot of promise. Though it’s mired by severe loading times and the occasional glitch, the app is fantastically designed and sports a wealth of great gameplay. Rolling Eggs is certainly worth the one dollar price of entry. If not, a free version is available as well.

Rolling Eggs requires iOS 3.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
