RI Question ?

So when setting up artwork for RI, I have my standard resolution and my higher resolution graphic, what format does my naming convention have to be ?

For example, art001.png is my standard resolution, what should I call my higher resolution graphic so that the correct image is displayed when running in RI ?

Thanks.

Hi, no name change required. This is because the same image is use with RI as well as non-RI, automatically resized by the iOS.

Hi, thanks, what if I do not want it to be automatic, so I can control the quality of the final graphic ?

Hi PIXOMUSE; it's automatic or nothing, I'm afraid! If you want to take advantage of RI, as long as you make all your images/graphics twice the size that you want them to appear on screen, that all dimensions - width and depth - are even numbers, and that they can be divided by 4, you'll have quality images for iPhone4 as well as previous models.

Right, ok gyroscope thanks for your help, I'm not within access of GameSalad right now, on a PC, so is there a setting that lets me create in 960x640 as a standard size, for laying out my game with RI in mind ?

If you're using RI then - for the iPhone4 - that is indeed the size you want for your backgrounds (960 x 640). This will automatically be made 480 x 320 for older devices. Hope that helps.

PS Always remember the other RI principles I mentioned previously, then you'll get good results. :-)

So what you're saying is... Keep resolution at 72ppi. Double the image sizes. Import the image into gamesalad and then manually shrink the image in gs, to the size it need to be displayed on the screen ie. half the size ?
