How to keep track of taxes

jb15jb15 Member Posts: 602
OK, so I'm just getting my first "fiscal financial reports" from Apple.

I'm in the USA--and wondering: What do I need to do so I can report taxes, and, keep track of all my revenue in general.

I'm using AppFigures right now--but I'm not sure if I need to keep track of anything, or if Apple is, or what I need to do?

If someone could please explain what I need to do, now that I have AppFigures going, that would really help me.

I've searched the forums for past discussions re. taxes, but couldn't find anything to up to date. Feel free to post a link if the info in it is still correct.

Bump. Anyone? I just want to know, at the end of the year, all the money I got. What do I need to do now, so that then I'll have the number?

assuming you are 15 (as per your nick name) you don't have to worry about it?

As this is my first year earning money from the App Store, I'd be interested in the answer too (I'm WELL-beyond the age of 15!).

Although I highly doubt the IRS is going to be coming after me for their cut of my paltry game sales!

Well, I do have to worry about it. You need to be 18 to sign up to be an apple dev.

Thanks for the link, mrshoestore. I realize none of you are accountants--I'm more wondering what I need to do to keep track of my sales. I'm using appfigures, but is that good enough/accurate enough to use to report to the IRS? Or do I need to keep track some other way, using iTunes connect, or whatever?

I have an accountant for that stuff. I don't even dare trying to do it better than him. I don't know how it is in the states but keep track of your hours spend in the games and all other expenses, like your mac and for example internet connection. You might even get something back from the IRS.

Really? I have no idea how many hours I spend... Besides, half the time I'm going back and forth between stuff...

Anybody think TurboTax would be good enough?

In US will Apple send you a 1099 form (total for year) for your taxes?
