Can someone from Gamesalad please comment to the possibility of including advertising code?

I have looked at other threads, but there is no answer.

Is it possible?

    I realized i may have asked the above questions wrong. So wanted to ask differently:

    How do you add Mobclix or Admob to our GameSalad projects?

    You cannot do it on your own, as we don't have access to the source code to the engine. I believe it's a prepackaged engine with our code and assets piled on top of it, so we're limited to what the engine can run and do at the moment.

    Can someone from GameSalad please respond to this thread? Is it in the roadmap of the product to allow for Mobclix, Admob or any other ad network?

    Sorry mate, GS Devs are like most devs, they don't comment on future releases. Which I understand, since if they said it was on the roadmap, everyone would pester when, or if it didn't end up happening everyone would be disappointed.

    With that being said, I doubt support for either will come anytime soon if ever. So don't hold your breath.

    Not to insert that but rather the other side.

    Im looking at a campaign placing my add in free games.

    ANy company i have talked to needs access to the UDID to monitor conversion rates of click ratios. I know our non functioning analytics has seconds minutes etc but i have never seen it working so i don't know what else it gathers.

    My problem is if it doesn't gather that i need to insert a tiny code into my game. And i don't think we can do that.

    So yes a GS response here would be great

    I don't understand... as I haven't paid $99 for iPhone publishing yet... but doesn't GameSalad, export to Xcode? Couldn't one manually add the AdMob code to their game?

    @Photics: Conceivably. Although they probably have package signing and checksum checks to ensure the package is not tampered with (i.e. folks trying to remove the GameSalad splashscreen, etc.).

    TinyMonster, why do you need access to UDID if YOU want to palce advertisement? That does not make sense.

    I advertised with AdMob once and I didn't have to add anything anywhere. Why would I?

    I don't have to have an iPhone for advertising, and games, which use admob, can also access the UDID of a phone. GS can't. So your AD will be shown only in games, which could add admob code to their code.

    So I don't see the problem.

    just tracking info to see the conversion ratio info

    udid is specific to model

    this tells what users click your add.

    doesnt gather anything personal but, need to know are the users 3gs owners touch owners etc.

    marketing companies want as much data as possible to know who to place your adds on.. why place on 3gs if statistically after a test 3g users arent clicking.. would be waste

    @TM: I think Hunn was getting at that it sounds like you want to place ads for your products in others people's free games. Thusly, you would just need to provide details about your ad, where you want the link to direct to, etc. Nothing to do with GS. When you sign up for advertising on an ad site, they usually collect the metrics themselves and have reporting screens to share the details with your, the advertiser.

    If that is not what you were asking, then you post above was a bit jumbled/confusing.

    That is what im talking about.

    However the company i am looking at also needs a line of code added to my game.

    THey arent just placing my game in adds but rather making a campaign.

    We need to know more about what happens once they DL my game as well.

    TO know which direction to go.

    Gamesalad no linger exports to Xcode. They used to before .7, but once they started the publish from within the app, xcode export was depreciated and hasn't been uodated since.

    Ah, some enhanced metrics stuff to track the user more.

    But iPhone OS version should be available for typical user-agent string parsing metrics (at the ad serving company)...

    User-agent string "...Version/3.0 Mobile/xxxxx..." is documented to be the OS version:

    Safari 3 on iPhone contains the additional Mobile/WW portion in the user-agent string – where “WW” is the operating system version number.

    Like mulcahy says above, the no excode since before Beta 0.7.

    New question, is there a way to get the XCode after submit in order to try and implement Mobclix or Admob ourselves?

    It's frustrating to get no official response, this is a sincere request for information. I'm not a troll, I'm appreciate your product, but it is essential that someone from GameSalad please respond.

    Yeah I've even tried emailing a couple days ago. I wanted to know about the broken analytics system. But, I guess they don't answer emails either so good luck there.

    Somehow someone hacked my game and it is on a pirate forum. Maybe I culd track down the hacker since he probably has the Xcode version. Lol.

    TinyMonster, he doesn't have the xCode version.. That's not how it works.

    Dingo, all the mods are at macworld. And again they don't comment on unannounced features, so I doubt you will get a response. But I *doubt* admob or mobclix is on the radar in the near future.

    I seem to recall hacked game just alter the contents of one file in the final binary. Easy enough to detect from code but not worth it - just treat pirates as free advertising.

    I wouldn't get too excited about admob - I used it in another app and it is not a great earner.

    2. I'm not askng to let the cat out of the bag with a new feature. I just want to know what is up the analytics system. If they put it there dont be surprised to get asked when it doesn't work.
    3. I really don't care where everyone is. It's not the first time I haven't gotten a response.
    4. I guess maybe it was misleading since I commented in this post but I am not interested in admob or the other one. I just want to k ow what's up with a broken feature.....the analytics. I had mentioned some possible marketing but never those nor do I want adds in my game.
