Good morning world...

THE BEARDED APRON WEARING MONSTER PAINT KILLING ARTIST HAS ARRIVED

I'm pleased to announce that my little old game 'Escape Artist' is now on the app store.

What was supposed to be a 2 week project grew an incy wincy bit... (the game stayed the same just wanted it to be good enough, not amazing, not a best seller... just good enough...

Here's the old development thread:
http://gamesalad.com/forums/topic.php?id=19982

One thing I know that will be picked up on, is the small number of shapes you can draw... hopefully I'll add a shed load more soon. But if thats the only issue...that would be amazing...

Currently priced at a cheeky: $1.99

Heres a video of the gameplay (this video was nearly the final version):

Heres the app store link:

Please take a look, feel free to leave constructive criticism in the post, and a loving review on the app.

Really good stuff, stormy, well done I say. :-) Hope it sells well for you. You put me to shame producing games; i've not finished one of my 6 yet, but I'm onto it....

Thanks Gyro... still not finished Dark ASylum though... and I've been tinkering with GameSalad for 17 months now and only made 2 proper games, and 3 very simple apps...

How is your point and click adventure game coming?... that was looking very very promising.

I love the art and overall game concept. Good luck for your sale.
And when you are creating 512x512 icon that time in photoshop always set radius 96px. Right now curve edges is cutting in icon. So its not matching.

Looks amazing stormy :) I love the graphics in this game! The concept is also really good. Best of luck with sales!

Yup, it's not as easy as it seems, is it, let alone the amount of hours needed. Still good you've got 5 games/apps out there.

I look forward to seeing Dark Asylum finished, it was looking like it had great potential; I guess the project needed a bit of "resting time"?

My point and click adventure has been put on the back-burner for the while, thanks for asking. Enough to say that the majority of the game mechanics have been "Ruled", which is good. It's certainly going to be finished one day. One reason I decided to wait is the complexity of it, deciding I should get something simpler and quicker into the app store. To that end, I've put all the others to the back of the queue and have been working on a puzzle game. I'm hoping this'll be finished within 2 months. And I will not be distracted by any other game/app of mine this time, I'm insistent with myself!

I'm going to start a thread within the next couple of days concerning the state of play (if you excuse the pun) of my 6 apps in a little more detail, for anyone's interest.

Finally, to repeat, Escape Artist is a neat game and deserves to sell a decent amount; good luck with that!

    :-)

I loved this game I am going to buy it but is there going to be a iPad version?
  • StormyStudioStormyStudio United KingdomMember Posts: 3,989
Hey Jamwithno.. if the game does well enough there could be an ipad version... not before finishing 'Dark Asylum' first....

Just dropping the price to 59p (99c).... which is what it was supposed to be launched at...but I obvisouly chose a different price when I first chose the name and never checked it before release....(I think this has killed a lot of potential sales on launch day)....

Hopefully a mixture of appearing on a few 'new app launch' sites and now 'price drop' sites it might get some attention....

Either way I guess I'm glad the app is finished and looks alright.

Looks better than alright, stormy: a professional offering, nicely done, very good, I'd say!

    Thanks gyro...

... I think the price being above 59p caused a big problem in sales...

I acheived a massive 2 sales on the first day... (one of which is my own purchase to check it all worked ok).

So not quite the success I was hoping for... I mean come on... I'd like 5 sales on launch day... :-)

Have you been promoting it on touch arcade and sent promo codes to the review sites?
Sorry about the sales, hopefully they'll pick up
  • StormyStudioStormyStudio United KingdomMember Posts: 3,989
Digleto... not done as much promotion as I have for other apps/games before. Time got taken up with working on a new website and other money making schemes...so didn't get round to making a proper promo video.

I've not done the promo code to review sites yet, but will do now the game is out there.

I'll also post on a few of the big tech sites.... Gizmodo is a favorite..

I did a post on touch arcade, and a pre-release post... but not much interest in a shape drawing game... and to be fair I kinda knew that when I was half way through making it, but wanted to finish a game as I have quite a few unfinished projects.

Fingers crossed sales pickup... maybe I'll write a 'Dear Apple, please feature my game... ' email.
