I like the concept of a "bouncy" pool game. That's pretty sweet!
Pocket Pool is a euphemism for playing with your man junk through your pants n' stuff. It's totally risqué.
In fact, there was a Playstation pool game called Pocket Pool in which you unlocked erotic images.
I understand your intent, but a Google search might have a been a good idea first.
It's an attention getter, just like 'droppin' balls'
Doubt it.
If so he should've played it up a little bit.
I think it's just pool, in your pocket. Because your phone's in your pocket, and it's pool on your phone... it would be fine if it didn't already have a meaning as an idiom.
Anyways, "droppin balls" isn't a dirty euphemism. If any idiom was related it would be something like, "you dropped the ball". So, if you think "droppin balls" is funny, you're probably in third grade. I don't even understand why that would even be an attention getter. 'Cause it's got the word balls in it?
Anyway, back to work on the three new games I'm working on.
One's is the story of an old brass orchestra instrument, trying to make it's way back to the orchestra. I call it, "Rusty Trombone".
Also working on a train track redirection game, takes place in bustling early Ohio. I call it, "Cleveland Steamer".
And let's not forget my Gunslinger game set in Wild West Mexico. Wait... for... it... "Dirty Sanchez".
Boom!
Although, I have to say that I probably have the dirtiest mind of anyone I know and even I didn't instantly think of the euphemism you are implying. Instead, I just took it for what the dev is probably trying to get across; that this is a portable version of a classic game.
Good luck in sales! If the name was intentionally controversial, I almost think underplaying it will help in sales. People will find it and wonder if there are any hidden bonuses...of course, the idea of anyone playing "pocket pool" doesn't seem to be an attractive concept for male or female prospective users...lol
BarkBarkCo is correct I thought of it as a little pool table that you could fit in your pocket. But hey if the double meaning can help with sales I'm all for it lol..
Anyways I made a game video so the community can better critique it.. The comments are very much appreciated and I'm working on a nice graphics pack to give out for free for all the help and support that I get on these forums...Enough talk here's the video lol...(excuse the quality)
I have to be honest, thought I do miss the rotation on the striped balls, and they glide across the table.
Also when the balls go in the hole they scale down wayy too much, like they're falling down 100ft cliff.
But really I think it's a solid game I'll buy it when it come out.
Wow, had to look up rusty trombone in the urban dictionary.
No "droppin' balls' isn't funny because it has the word balls in it. But having ones "balls drop" refers to testicular descent, that occurs in the early months of a childs life.
Men joke about it in the same way they'd say 'grow some balls' one could say 'when your balls finally drop you'll stand up to your girlfriend' etc.
If you don't find that funny maybe you're probably in third grade, as they usually don't cover the subject until sex ed/health in junior high.
As for the cliff thing lol..I really didn't figure out how to get a natural pool table ball drop effect so I just went with a osx genie window effect lol..If somebody knew a better way I'm all ears :-). Oh by the way does anybody recommend any site I should post this video at for exposure? Thanks
Yeah, I've heard of the idea of when your balls drop, but no one ever says it reversed like droppin' balls. I still don't find it very funny.
i would use magnitude to dtermine how close they are from the holes so you can ride the edge without non of the weird stuff happening.
and instead of shrinking the size so much interpolate it a little bit while interpolating the alpha to 0 so it looks like it falls and fades into the holes
right now it doesnt even look like it falls in the hole, it looks like it just sits on top and gets smaller till its nothing.
just some constructive critism for you. Looks like you got a good start though
Oh and to who ever reads this........." you got the 8"
Best of luck,
