I use inkscape and don't know how to get a transparent Background, please help!

    If you save for web and devices, it should give you a transparent background.

    when you save, or file, save, instead of export, click save for web. something like that. I don't use inkscape.

    do you have photoshop? If you do, within inkscape select the entire image and drag it into a new file in photoshop.

    Other wise click "save as" and save it as a ".PNG" file. Only PNGs support transparency.

    In preview, use select then choose instant alpha to quickly select all the white space and delete it. Then select all the stuff left and hit crop.

    i don't understand how to do it. there is no preview.
