Issue with creating a dev app for iphone

scitunesscitunes Member, Sous Chef Posts: 4,047
I switched computers. I copied all my keychains to the new computer. I have published apps to the appstore from the new computer and they work fine. I tried to create a development app on the new computer and GS is saying there is a signing error. I have done all the normal steps in my development portal (created app id, created development profile, downloaded profile and loaded it into Xcode). Am I missing something?

Do you have to have a developers license AND a GS license to publish you GS apps?

I am also having trouble with creating a dev version. All certs are installed. I am an express user but when "Publishing" through the gamesalad creator I am only given a Code Sign dropdown option for Ad Hoc. There isn't a Development Profile option as shown in the iPhone Publishing Tutorial. I'm running v0.7.0

And since there is no tutorial for creating an Ad Hoc version...storta stuck! hahaha

Ok, I had to try and upload as an Ad Hoc and let it fail. I then went back into publish and my Developer Distribution cert was now available in the Code Sign dropdown. Selected it and was good to go.

All of my provisioning profiles are in the drop down list. When I try to upload I get an error message that says - "Code signing error. Code signing failed. Make sure your provisioning profile, developer certificate, and WWDR certificate are installed."

If my development profile is in the list and I have published using distribution profiles from this computer, what could I be doing wrong.

Why would I be able to create apps for distribution and not development?

Is this something to do with my key chain?

    I had the same issue.

If you recall, you had to generate a key by requesting a certificate from your computer, then upload it to Apple. Then, they would send you back a certificate. That original request file you made was based on your computer, so when you switched computers and copied over the keychain, the old certificate won't work since it's on the new computer.

The encryption in the certificate prevents anyone or anything from using your identity by tying it to you AS WELL AS your computer.

What you need to do is one of two things: either 1. export the certificate from the old computer and import it into the new computer, or 2. generate a new request and send it to Apple, and Apple will create a new certificate for you. Option 1 is the best because it's technically the original certificate, and therefore the same digital signature. Option 2 is only when you don't have the original machine anymore, but be aware that you'll have a new digital signature on anything new you develop.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. Thing is I exported ALL of my keychains from my old computer. So the distribution profile and the ad hoc seem to work fine but not the development profile. I guess I'll go back and compare the development keychain on my old computer with the new. Thanks
