Duck Shot - Crazybreadman Games (Traffic Ninja, Doodle Cannon)

My summer is finally here and that means I can work on games again! I'll be finishing up Duck Shot this week and I wanted some feedback as I finish up. Also if anyone wants to beta test send me an email - Crazybreadman@gmail. Please share your great ideas and I'll try to get them in before submitting, thanks!

    Was this made from TshirtBooths template?

    Ideas:
    after some time, like 30 seconds, turn off the line to make harder.
    I think it would be cool to see more "feathers" when the bird is hit...
    Maybe some smaller or larger ducks?
    Hmmm can you add a dog somehow??????

    @Steverd- Hmm, I'm not sure what template you mean, but I started this several months ago and haven't had time until now to finish it. I tweaked a slingshot mechanic found in a demo by... I wanna say SciTunes. I think I'll have an option for the shot guide, and maybe you get bonus points for having it disabled. As for different sized ducks, that sounds like a good idea. I have small ducks floating in the ponds you can shoot, which spit out 5 coins (but I didn't get one in the vid because I suck haha). As for the dog idea, it got me thinking about a gameplay mechanic where while you're not shooting ducks, you have to tell the dog to go collect duck carcasses, but maybe I'll save that for Duck Shot 2!

    Thanks StusApps & imGua! Your complements are much needed fuel, as I've been slaving away to finally get this finished :)

    @MikeQuinn- I owe that bit of voodoo magic to the elasticity demo by FiremapleGames. I just tweaked it to be set in the middle of 2 points on the slingshot and voila!

    Loving the music - but one thing that did confuse me (maybe I'm just dumb!) was the reload animation. It looked (from the video, anyway) like the ball was not going far. The size of the ball in the reload anim draws the player's eye to it, and is a bit offputting/confusing.

    That may just be me though!

    I agree with QS: The reload animation is very distracting, it makes you automatically draw your eyes to that, not paying attention to the scene. (As cool as it looks).

    Looks nice and defo good to see you're still around :)

    As for the animation on reload that naghty lil sheep speaks of, im afraid you'll need to put the clippers down as i too agree! It took me a while to realise what was going on, i generally thought you were just not shooting very far!

    QS and BB, can i join in on the hi5's?

    @ QS/Butterbean/Beefy- Ah yes, thanks for that bit of feedback! I wanted the reload to be obvious, but not distracting or confusing so I'll have to work on it. It may be less distracting when playing on the device because your finger is there, but maybe keeping it small and having the rock come in from the side? idk... I'm sure there's a better idea out there :)

    Yeah I have to say, it looks really cool how it reloads, you did a great job with it, but yes it's distracting.

    Maybe just making the rock smaller as it reloads could help with making it a bit more subtle?... Look forward to the final product!

    Ok here's an update of the reload and also a trailing effect on the rock when you shoot so it stands out more. Better? If you have any other ideas for improvement then shoot... I really want feedback, thanks!

    Don't mean to go across popular opinion but thought it looked awesome with the larger original reload animation. Music is fantastic - game seller infact :P

    haha looks like the camp is split. Oh well, I guess in the end I'd rather it not be as cool if it means less people will find it annoying. Now I get to work on all the *fun* stuff like menu screens and save/loads. I'll try and have a final trailer up tonight and submit this beast muahahah!

    OK, now for "LARGER explosion" when the duck is hit.
    OK, I'm sticking with that idea...

    Also it still looks too easy, hope you remove the cheat/guide line.
    If, not have a choice: EASY (with the line) and HARD without it!!

    @Steverd- Larger "explosion" done! Well it's a little bigger...more feathers. I don't wanna make it too crazy though because you'll be seeing it a lot. If you have any specific ideas on it let me know :) I'll make an option to have to guideline or not.

    So I said I would finish yesterday, but nope. I just keep adding stuff against my will... I cant help it! Right now I'm implementing an objectives system with rewards (think Tiny Wings). Stuff like "get three x2 combos" and "kill a Flameduck." I don't want it to just be an endless style game so I'm actually going to have an ending! After level 10 you beat the game and it counts up stats- how many games it took to reach the end and coins collected will be used to calculated a final score. What do you guys think about that?

    IF ANYONE WANTS TO BETA TEST TODAY LET ME KNOW :)

    O my gosh! i am so jealous of this! you did an amazing job! as soon as it's released i am definately buying it (im a nintendo/apple fanboy so this seems like awesomeness to me!)

    @Merm- Thanks man! I really hope people will dig the retro style and have fun with it. I'm having a blast creating the game and I'll be sure to post when it is released. I'm SOOO close to finishing it's not even funny.
