Hey guys.

I'm thinking on paying this guy:

http://www.crazymikesapps.com/social-media-app-marketing/

To make a video review of my game. Many of the videos I see on his site are from successful apps. Just wanted to ask here first if someone has use his service before and did you get good results with it.

thank you very much

cheers

steve

I have talked to the guy. He's pretty popular and most of the games that I see he does, get pretty popular. Unless you REALLY believe in your game though, I wouldn't use him. It would just be a waste. some people that used him

Hmmm, I have over 1.2 million views on my YouTube app review channel.
Maybe I should start charging people to review their apps also???

    Never thought about it...
    Is that CRAZY??

1.2 Million?! Awesome Steve - got a link? What's the best way to submit an app to you for review?

I don't know whether this story is true or merely apocryphal, but I have read about a very popular review site that started charging for 'expedited' reviews. They then realised that if they started giving poor reviews to paying developers, then no-one would pay for this service (if I paid for a review, I would expect a good one, irrespective of what the reviewer thought. I'm paying for a good review - i.e. an advert) - so they only wrote good reviews.

Then their subscribers learned this was happening, and realised that the reviews were no longer independent or 'honest' (a poor app could easily be described as good) . . . so people stopped trusting and visiting their site . . . and with low monthly visitor stats, developers stopped submitting apps for review and buying advertising space . . . and a profitable business just fell apart.

Oh definitely, but use, not abuse!

PS. I realise I have been a bit of a gloom-and-doom-mongerer on the forum recently. I do apologise.

    Here's my reviews:

OK, now over 1.3 million views and 968 subscribers.

I see exactly what Apps4everyone is saying above.
And agree completely, On my reviews I tried to give an honest opinion, if the game was bad, I would say it's bad and to not buy it. MAN that would be hard if someone was paying me $20-40 to review and post a video to my page. Is any publicity truly good publicity? Probably not in this case.

At the most now I get a ton of free promo codes from people that want me to review their apps, but I really haven't had much time in the last year to do so..

I would have to make it clear that if your game sucks, I am going to say it sucks... Hmmmm not sure that would work either... It would probably scare business away.

    Thoughts?

OK, I just checked out a few reviews on Crazy Mike's Apps.
It seems that he's in this, since you paid me I'll give you a good review.

For example he calls 3B Bumper Bot's Box app "more addictive than other app". So I D/L it and found it very boring and extremely repetitive..

I would say do not buy it in my review, only D/L it if it's FREE!

Seriously Crazy Mike, you must be crazy!!

My advice, and I learned this the hard way, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON REVIEWS! I spent just over a hundred dollars for sketch ball to get it reviewed and priority reviewed. Besides maybe a few downloads I don't think I'm ever going to make that money back. Ok, well maybe over a long period of time. :) Your best bet is to let all of the review sites know about your game. And through forums. Exclusive material does seem to get priority over normal press releases so I'm going to try this route with my next game and see if that works at all.

Yep - because developers are actually paying for good publicity (under the guise of a review). I'd be furious if I gave money to someone who then slated my product.

Keep reviews free and independent and:

    * Earn money through adverts on the Website/YouTube clips?
    * Use your reviews, subscriber lists, etc to get viewers to click through to your apps Website, twitter account, facebook page, etc, and use these landing pages to get them to click through to your apps (i.e. persuade viewers to download your apps)?
    * Use your subscriber list as an email list to send out news about your apps?
