Copyrights?

i have a few questions about copyrights.
a)Can we take images from google for our app?
b)How to copyright our app so no one copy's it?
c)How much trouble will you be in for using copyrighted stuff?
d)Is it hard to copyright our app?

    in a nutshell

    Unless you have permission from the owner of the graphics. Do not use images from google if you plan to sell your app in the appstore. mainly for three reasons

    1) It is not ethic to profit from the work of someone else. (some people call that stealing :P)

    2) If you happen to use the work of an angry man or a big company, they might sue you and they'll want you to pay royalties (although in most cases they'll just ask you to take your game out of the store until you change the artwork)

    3) It's more fun to see your own artwork out there for millions to enjoy.

    could i use a snapshot from my iPod of the default homepage to make what looks like a home screen?

    i meant more if i did it by accident for example if something says it isn't copyrighted when it is

    Hmmmm... very interesting frame of questions lol

    My advice: Hire an artist or visit stock websites for graphics, so you stay out of trouble :)

    Basically if you didn't make it or buy it. you cannot use it unless you have specific permission to use it. And any thing you create is copyrighted the instant you create it. However only art, and design is copyrightable. someone can create basically the same exact game with different art and level design and there is nothing you can do about it.
