I worked an average of 12 hours a day for 7 weeks on this, and I'm extremely proud of the results. I'd love to hear what you all think!

Here's 10 promo codes for the paid version for the community. I wish I could give out more, but I've got to do promotions after all. I'll post a few more after the first update. Be sure to let everyone know which code you used, and any reviews would be awesome if you're happy and willing to do so!

P.S. Let's all pretend the first promo code here doesn't start with such an unfortunate string of letters!

    Here's a write-up I did for the game:

    Beauty and futility
Pixyphus has been doomed to an eternity of pushing a boulder up a mountainside

PixYPHUS is based on the Greek myth surrounding Sisyphus, who was condemned by Zeus to an eternity of pushing a boulder up a mountain as punishment for tricking the gods.

PixYPHUS is played by touching the left side of the screen to move Pixyphus left and the right side of the screen to move Pixyphus right. It is only possible to move left if Pixyphus is pushing the boulder. If the player lets go of the screen, even for just a moment, the boulder will fall.

Although the gameplay could not be simpler, just how easy is it to consistently touch something? There is of course the physical aspect.  It's "easy" to touch something, but after a while you notice that you are putting effort into that action, and quite suddenly it changes to being in the forefront of your mind, rather than playing a quiet role.

There is also the psychological aspect. Why keep pushing the boulder up a mountain? Why keep holding the screen? Is the experience worth it, or is it essentially a waste of time?  In a very Zen-like way, the journey becomes a big part of that reasoning. The visuals are important. The experience is what will be reflected upon.  It's about effort, futility, experience, beauty, introversion, calmness, frustration, and so much more. The inner dialogue and experience is different for everyone that plays PixYPHUS. It’s these components that keeps the player coming back for more.

PixYPHUS is a juxtaposition of aesthetics and concept, and I believe that those people who grab onto it and enjoy the experience will enthusiastically tell their friends about it.

I want to create something new in this market. Be a new branch on the tree. It may be a bit of a gamble, but I wouldn't be happy with myself if I wasn’t pushing my own ideas of what makes a game a game. I’m one man in an ocean of mobile applications, but I’m going to make some waves.

PixYPHUS and PixYPHUS (Ad-Free) will be available on the iTunes App Store on April 1st. The iPad version of PixYPHUS is currently in review by Apple.
