App Icon Shows Up Different On 3G & 3GS

Well its not a big problem, but a tad annoying. My app icon for "Ultra Fortune Ball" is just the ball with no background and on the iPhone 3/3GS and iPod Touch Apple defaulted it to a black background behind the ball which looks really nice and simple.

However a couple days ago I was checking out my app on a friends iPhone 4 and I noticed that the app icon background isn't black. Instead it's like beige with small black spots and its like that on iTunes too. This all just happened recently because originally the background was black on all formats...

Does anybody else have this issue going on? I'm just wondering if I'm the only one....

Why didn't you just put a black background in your image?

Apple doesn't allow transparencies on apps icons. If there's some it automatically get filled, usually it's black but you my never know.
The easiest way is to do as tenrdrmer said and add a black background on your ball.

Ok thanks man. I didn't know Apple didn't allow transparencies. I was hoping they would because that would look neat with the glowing ball. The app doesn't need updating anytime soon but I'll look into adding a black background.
