good software to make game trailers

I was wondering how you guys make those amazing game trailers. I want to make one so I can send it to reviewers. Does anyone have like a guide on how to make it. Or do you use camtasia and imovie?

how do you record your screen? im using camtasia but for some reason it lowers the resolution of the video.. do anyone know a free screen recording software?

I've also downloaded doodim (http://www.lachoseinteractive.net/en/products/doodim/), which is handy thing for blacking out the background and files on your desktop.
