so I am doing well on my first mac game for the MAC APP STORE. I am just scared that when I pay $99 and publish my app it wont sell at all and I will be out $99.

has anyone had fail stories?

I don't want to lose all that money for nothing.

also if I post a couple apps on the mac app store and my developer account ran out will my apps still be there? and will I get money still?

ALSO if my dev account is done, can I still update the apps that are in the app store prior?

The best advice I can give you......
PLEASE don't expect to make it big from 1 game.....it very rarely happens.

If it does well for you good....if it tanks, pick yourself up, dust yerself off, and crack on with the next. You "should" be able to make back that $99 fairly easily in a year I would think if you have stuff up there that people are willing to buy.
(I don't have a mac dev account, only an Ios one, so can't comment on how sales are for the mac app store)

If you let your account lapse, your games will be taken off sale as far as I am aware.

oh..and as for fail stories :

As well as having games that have made thousands of £
some that have made hundreds of £

I've also had a few that have made like...£20....and one that made £8

take the rough with the smooth

Yep I have yet to make back my $99 apple membership or the $99 express membership or the $99 pro upgrade membership. or the little costs here there I have had with hiring out some of the art.

You should consider yourself luck the only investment for you is $99.

I like to think of it as investment in a hobby rather than a loss of cash. If you started a new activity such as rock-climbing, martial arts or chainsaw juggling how much would you be likely to pay out to set yourself up with all the kit? The benefit of this hobby is that you stand a chance of recouping your initial investment, and maybe even making much, much more!

Even if I don't make my $100 bucks back I'm happy. This has been a great hobby for me if nothing else, and as far as hobbies go that is dirt cheap.
