Does anyone know if its legal to build a set using objects from renderosity and use it in a game?

I think it is - any 2D images you create are your copyright.

    Hope that helps,

Do you mean "free" objects or paid for content?
IF you are buying stuff, you should state where you are planning on using the content. If the seller has issues with that, than s/he'll tell you right up front.
Also, while buying gfx content is OK, please know that should someone recreate your game or a modified version, that you have no exclusive claim on the look of the game.
For example: Say someone downloads one of my instruments and de-compiles the app resulting in gaining access to the images ...
I have the original 3D model and thus, can prove that I created the render as no one would be able to reproduce my work exactly as it is.

Sorting copyright issues based on bought artwork is probably very hard ...

If at all possible, find someone who can "copy" existing artwork but with her/his own touch and then use that instead. You'll sleep better if you do :)

p.s. are you in the US and if yes, in North Dakota?

I was going to "build" things and scenes using various skins and stuff using models/textures that i would buy.

This should be fine. I think that you can't use the actual 3D models in a 3D game, for example, without getting a licence. However, producing 2D images from a 3D Model should be fine.
