look cool loved the start up commander 64 thing except it crashed once loading the scene after that although my ipod is a 2nd gen with latest os

The game is required of gen 3 or higher so you will experience issues, if somehow you get it to run, disable the sounds via the options menu for better performance on 2g devices.

Just bought it and I LOVE it. makes me want to make games with pixel art. good job with this. Did you hire an artist or do it all yourself?

Oh thanks very much DreamLab :) I do my own art, I've always wanted to do a pixel art game so this was my first attempt lol.

    I hope you enjoy it!

I very much enjoy it. How long does it take to do pixel art compared to regular vector? I have always wanted to give it a shot.

The hardest part is getting scale right, once you have the size of a general pixel then you can make the art since all the assets will be to same scale. Pixel art can be very hard since you are working within a size limitation, really expands your imagination of what things should look like in 8 bit. Since the beginning of this project, I've become very experienced in pixel art so I can usually make sprites fairly fast now.

sorry if I am hounding you, but what program did you use? and did you just make a bunch of squares and rectangles and put them together? sorry. I am just really curious. I want to try it.

Haha, no hounding, happy to answer. Essentially I found the scale I wanted for my pixel size, I then designed all the sprites at 1:1 8 bit scale (very tiny, Gravonaut is 8x10 px.), so all the art is drawn at the actual resolution, using the pencil tool at 1pt. which is 1 pixel on the 8 bit canvas. After the art is done, I upscale it to a larger resolution to match the iPhone screen. I did all my art in Adobe Fireworks, I find is much easier for pixel art than Photoshop.

    Looks good! Congrats.

But some of us don't "Twit" ;-) looks too hyper
I'm going to resist it as long as possible

For Pixel art, there is "Pixen" on Mac, and "Sprite Something" on the app store.

    POWER UP!
