Stock photography and Google images

Anyone have any issues with using stock photography or images pulled of google? I want to pull a picture of a galaxy off google. I'm going to heavily alter in in photoshop. Just worried about Copy writes and such. Anyone have any advice/ concerns about doing this?

Whoever took the photo owns the copyright. If they do not expressly say that you can use it you need to be careful. I have heard people say that if you change more than 30% (or maybe I have it backwards) then you can use it. You would probably be better off finding a comparable image at istockphoto or dreamstime.com (much cheaper so I always look there first) so you can be sure it is legal.

well... if it is a photo of a galaxy...chances are it was taken from the Hubble...

and that is NASA... and NASA photos are Public Domain...

why go to google?... go to the source:

    http://hubblesite.org/gallery/album/galaxy/npp/all/

gotta be one in there you want or can alter to your vision...
