Sayomi, early WIP video. Built off Darren's runner template

Hi guys,

Just a little video of where things are up to on my game I'm building off Darren's runner template.

It still has a long long long way to go yet. Most of the graphics are not finished, sound is temporary and many of the level features and niceties are not in yet (and the text readouts are still there). But, still quite pleased with where it's going so far.

Let me know your thoughts.

Cheers

Stu

    Hey Stus,
I am not a gamer so I am not commenting on the game but my question rather is .... related to the noise the game makes.
When the video ended, I was glad because all the balloon pops were the same noise. Again, I don't play games so I'm not sure if this is how it's done but i imagine with random noises (louder if two crates explode and quieter if it is only one), you could get rid of the redundancy ....

Perhaps you could find an audio sample of braking glass and then manipulate the pitch by lowering it and thus get a more realistic explosion?
That's what I use if I need such an effect.

    Good luck :)

    Hi,

Yeah the sound was one I just put in as a place holder as it was on my computer. None of the sounds are the proper ones yet. Cheers for the comment though and advice :-)

Wow very nice job! Reminds me of Shadow Dancer, female edition, or something that would have been published by Sega only better graphics! Nice work!

The bright pink/white background layer is a bit distracting? Could be the youtube vid but the scrolling seems a bit jerky? The boxes coming towards the screen when broken is good.

Looks promising though, with more animations and the right sound it could be quite atmospheric. As art is your strength you could have all kinds of hazards to avoid/destroy. I'd say you should think about adding an additional and interesting mechanic of some kind.

Looks good! Maybe have a slide effect and enemy's droping from up top
