New & Noteworthy - What does it take?

So I've been in N&N once before with Rodent Rage when it was first released on the iPad, but only in Action/Adventure. Rodent Rage for the iPhone is there now and I'm wondering for those who've been 1 step up in the US Games N&N, how many downloads and/or Ratings did it take roughly?

I have never had a main page N&N, but I'm guessing at least a few hundred downloads a day might get you there, maybe a bit more depending on the category.

Ktfright's 'One life One Chance' is in the main Games' N&N and he was reporting that sales were around $8/day and doesn't have many US stars, so that's confusing. :p

That's interesting, maybe they are just hand picked then.

I believe its a combination of sales, itunes reviews, and blogger reviews and then they pick based on all of that.

Such is the most guarded secret around. My assumption would bet that the New and Noteworthy people also bounce this question around: Is there something in it that would make us money if we featured it. I doubt they would find something new and noteworthy that also didn't appear it could make them a good profit or benefit Apple somehow (ie show off features in a new way that would get people interested in purchasing apps or a new iDevice.)

Main page and main game page are not based on sales as far as I can figure. It would seem that someone at apple just picks them. I have had two games there and both had decent but not great sales before being placed in N&N. I think they look at the game itself, the icon, the screenshots, and decide what they think has a chance of selling. Obviously the more we sell the more they make. If it were an automated system that just based it on DL numbers you would see a ton of people using robotic services that just buy tons of copies of the game. Essentially you would buy enough copies of your own game to get it into the main N&N. That would obviously turn into a complete nightmare.

Very good points guys, Well it has been my goal for this Thursday's N&N refresh. I've got 19 reviews of which are all 5 stars except 1. 9 in the US but only $40 in rev, 89 in sales thus far since launching on Saturday. Finally, I've spent $50 in Admob.

My iPad version did slightly better upon launch but had more sales and less reviews than the iphone version, it too was featured in my 2 Cats but never main games N&N, so I'm not getting my hopes up; if they didn't pick it for the iPad they probably won't pick it for iphone. :(

I believe more reviews are coming but yeah..as you guys mentioned, it's up to them I'm guessing too.
