Does resolution independence slow down gameplay on old Iphones?

So anyway, does the higher resolution show up on your iPad?

or does it just play like a 2x scaled up iPhone game

WHen starting new projects, I'm just deciding weather to the graphics big or small.

Here's a question: Does resolution independence slow down gameplay
if it's running on older iPhones? Should I worry about such things.

    I dont think it slows anything down since it used the lower res images on old devices. And I don't have an ipad but from what I understand it used the high res images do when played in 2x mode it is basically the same as standard definition

    If you were going to use high res images anyway, so as it looks better on iPhone 4, then resolution independence will actually speed the game up on older devices as it isn't loading up the larger image. I tried not using it for an app which I used high res images in and it crashed my 3GS.
