Can I creat an app name NOW to reserve it or later?

If so, I'm assuming it won't expire right? Just wanna make sure I can reserve the name of my game :)

If I can do this I just gotta do the provisions and appid stuff right? Then just do the appuploader process when I'm ready?

You can, but it will expire within 90 days if you don't upload anything for it I think. Its Apple's no name squatting rule they added last year.

90 days is a great time frame. Say codemonkey I meant to ask u, what's the best way to optimize ur dual joystick demo for 9.1?

It works great but sometimes it bugs up. If you touch both sticks at the same time one will go to the opposite direction sporadically. Sending my actor to the other direction of where I want him to go. Is this an engine issues or a coding issue? I notice it improved a tiny bit in 9.1. In 9.0 it was buggies however it's still bugs up 10% of the time. I know that's my alot but still :/.

    Any recommendations?

    Hey qbanyto,
If this is your first game, I would be VERY careful and print out your provisioning profile name.
Also please consider that if you screw up (I did), the name can only be used once.

For an example. Say you have a cool app name and so you use that as you build your app.
But if something does not work during the development process and you have to redo the provisioning, please know that you have to start over. Only that your name is no longer available :-(

I hope some more experienced devs can confirm this but that was my experience.
(I didn't and stll don't reserve but messed up at the submitting stage which is a cruel process the first time around)

    Good luck!

I reserved a name and I got an email that it will expire.

I changed "Mytitle" to "Mytitle!" and have let it expire. Immediately after it expired I registered "Mytitle" again without any problems and I had my 3 months again.

wow, i didn't know that a name change can be made while an app is waiting for approval!! Cool :)

You can always change anything until it is "in review" or "ready for sale".

None that I can think of at the moment.

    Print? Why?

But yea I knew about the name thing. I learned it the hardway :( my game was supposed to have an (!) at the end but thanks to 4 hours of networks problems (on apples or gs end) I almost had to rename my game entirely. Somehow I got lucky and tried again one of the first attempted provisions and it went through. So now it's on "waiting to review" or what notC

yes, it is unfortunate that the names get stuck if you make a mistake.

I tried 6-10 times to get my game uploaded, it's tough. dont give up, read VERY carefully.
(I still think a complete tutorial from Gendai would be great.)

now my app is called Radarhead19 ;-)
but the number adds some kind of mystery to it?

A long time ago, a very smart man told me that "A dull pencil is better than a sharp mind".
PRINT the provisioning profile name so that you can rip it off the cork board and use it because with all the development and accumulation of assets as you project matures, you wont even know what you used x weeks ago :)

    Thanks Attila, I didn't know/see that!
Usually, good advise comes late but this time, i was able to change a title before apple starts to snoop ;)
