APPLE IS SOOOOO STUPID

calvin9403calvin9403 Member Posts: 3,186
I finally finish my game, so I bought the apple dev account which cost 99 dollar a year.
I use the video that TSB make . It was successful at first , but I saw that apple will send you a mail in 24 hours to active your account or something. I wait for a day, no mail sent to me ( I check the junk folder) , so I contact apple, no one respond. I live in Taiwan, but my mom have a US credit card and a Taiwan credit card, she decide to use the Taiwan one. But Taiwan is in chinese new years now and no one work. So my mom call apple(in the US), but they says you have to contact the apple in Taiwan. But they work on next Thursday which I am not going to wait.
I though there might be something wrong.I am only 13, and I don't have a credit card. So I use my mom's . But my mom want me to use my own name, so I put my name to the profile box. I remember that it says you have to type in your name that is the same as the credit profile. So is that the problem, or there is something wrong.

Please help

Calvin

You have to be 18 years old to sign up with the iPhone Developer Program. Until then, the account will have to be in your mother's name.

Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's the way it is.

When you send over all of you banking and tax information, they will want everything to match properly.

Making sure the name matches is most likely to ensure some over 18 is shredding to all of the contracts that go with the dev account. If your mom doesn't want to have her name shown to anyOne on the app store then you guys could setup a business and register that way but her name is still gonna have to be on there somewhere. Because she is really the one agreeing to the terms and sales contracts since you are under age.

The name on the card has to match the name on the dev account EXACTLY. Thats not apples fault you didnt search first.

I think the thread title is kind of misleading. Apple isn't the on who is "SOOOOOO STUPID".

Sorry, but frankly, do you realize that at 13 years old you cannot enter into a contract? Apple is protecting themselves and rightly so.

Also, your mother calling Apple to try and get them to activate your account wont work. Know why? It's your account. They wont deal with her unless it's in her name. She can't write a note and have you approved, basically.

At 13 you could technically get a debit card; there is no age limit as you can only spend money already on the card, however you can also use it like a credit card online - it works the same way.

    Then everything would match up.

Sorry but that's just how it is - 13 year olds are fine and all, but you can't get into any legal contracts with them, they're not valid.

@Cardinal, how did you manage that? Did you give Apple a debit card number or what? Just curious because I'm 16 and everything is in my mom's name, but I would like everything to me in my name.

You guys should probably keep the fact your underage and have contracts with apple to yourselves since Apple would probably Drop your account in a heart beat if they found out. Contracts with people under 18 unless they have been emancipated by their state are not binding or enforceable which means apple is at a huge liability by knowingly allowing your account to continue. If they don't know and they can prove they didn't know then you may actually get yourself in legal trouble if something went south because it probably said somewhere you must be 18 which means you falsified legal documents by agreeing to the terms and mis represented you were 18. This is really a pretty big issue since you are falsifying information to make money. it's not quite the same as when you are under 18 and click the yes i'm 18 link when you go check your porn sites.

    So long Story short.

If you've set it up that way. Keep your mouth shut and if you haven't don't and if you still insist on being deceitful don't discuss it here.

I look though your post today, and I found apple send me the mail, I thought it's over, but they says we can't enroll my account because the data that enter and the credit card data doesn't match. They tell me to enter a form and fax it there, then they will activite my account.

Sorry for the title, I was very angry when I write this post, can someone change it for me

I have another question, can I just edit my data or I have to complete the form

I also have it under my name. Im changing to a company name soon though.

I have my own bank account, so I entered in my own banking info to make sure everything would match.

If they have said they are sending you a form you need to return, then you likely need to fill that out and return it. I don't believe you can easily change your info once submitted anyway; although it's been a year, that could have changed in that time.

I did't fax them the form yet. I think I will just make a new account since the old one didn't charge
