Do I need to make a dev build of app if I use viewer?

I use the viewer alot, and i was wondering, to save myself time and frustration, is it okay to just use the viewer to develop on, then when when my game is complete, just make an app store build and just bypass making a dev app build version altogether?

Is there any difference other than one fades in after the gs loading screen?

There are a couple of differences between both. You should be fine doing most of your testing with the Viewer, however before sending off to the App Store, you should at least give it a once over as a dev build. That way you have a more accurate view of how your users will be seeing your game.
