I'll check it out soon.
Just trying to make the forms accessible. Hey its free advertising for them!
In this situation, you're using the GameSalad name as your own... and you're using their logo as the app icon. I don't think that's a good idea.
However, I think the general idea is not bad. (I'm not sure if they will like the AdMob thing though.) For example, I used to run a Guild Wars fansite. Usually, companies are OK with fans creating projects like this. But in doing so, there are usually boundaries that you cannot cross. You might want to clean up the app a bit. But again, you might want to contact GameSalad and see how they feel. I think that's the most important idea.
It's not just about getting sued, it's about staying friendly. They're a cool team. You have a good idea, but understand that they have responsibilities and an identity to protect.
- Use a unique logo
- Change the name
- Drop AdMob
I realize that you might want to make money. So, I suggest joining the Apple Affiliate program. Create a list of the best GameSalad apps... you might even be able to link The Unofficial GameSalad Textbook. You'd make commissions on promoting products from this community. That would probably make you and your app more popular.
AGAIN, I don't know if GameSalad will like that, but that's what I think would be a good correction... and would probably make everyone happy... and the forum app more popular, as the developers around here would probably like to see their apps promoted.
Maybe you should make this app as part of a GameSalad fansite? Review the GameSalad apps, write news articles, put some effort into it. If you run a strong website for 4 years, that could be very useful on your resume... when applying for colleges or looking for work.
There someone that made SaladGamers.com - which I think might have turned into a GameSalad job. I don't know for sure, but now it seems to be a completely different website.
Even though you're pulling an RSS feed, sometimes companies get touchy about that. For example, I thought about making a news forum. It would pull news articles from all of the popular RSS feeds. But then, I saw words like "Not for commercial use". That's when I gave up on the idea.
Example... http://www.cnn.com/services/rss/
So, protect yourself and make friends. Open up communication with the team.
