Artwork renders of the new Piano for (very) "Little Composers"

I wish I had a twin brother who enjoys programming as much as I enjoy making artwork for my apps!
I have experimented with a little toy piano for a while now but this afternoon, inspiration struck ....

If you see something that I didn't see (missed), please don't hesitate to point it out! :)

    Looks great! Are you going to add the black keys?

    Grey key is a bit dull for kids, maybe purple?

    neat...which software did you use for the 3d? having numbers or symbols on the keys...helps if you can relate it to the music..

    @JCF, I think his colors are based on his preexisting system...

    and the $1000 for best answer go to:

    OK, sorry guys, I just logged into Apple to see the download numbers and I am a BIT hyper!!!!!!!!

    @ CowTechMan
    To implement back keys is tricky (i have done it only in Flash so far) and not necessary for the beginner model. But sooner or later, I need to read Photics's book and learn how to layer actors ... Part II of the app will have more keys, loose the case and have a few black keys (F# + Bb).

    @JCFord
    I have been teaching this system for about 10 years and it is important that the B key is dark. Most instrument manufacturers start and end their keyboards with C which is not really good for making music.
    Basically, the colours are representing animals and the "bird" has always been grey :)

    I do extensive testing of the apps and have been for a long time. Generally, my stuff is too easy and the kids figure the whole thing out in minutes. I am blown away that they can move their fingers at the bottom of the screen but focus their vision in the upper half. You should see how excited they are when they realize that they can play an instrument! LOL
    I used Cheetah3D to create my artwork and do the slicing and dicing with GIMP.

    @BarkBarkCo,
    nod

    xyloFUN, nice renders.
    don't you find latency (the time between the user touch the key on the screen and the sound actually plays) too long in GameSalad for creating musical instruments?

    Luckily no! I spend a lot of time tweaking the samples and mKe sure that there is no silence at the start!

    Today, I am implementing a new feature that will put the concept to the test.
    In order to make the piano a valuable app that will attract customers, I've recorded "patterns" that can be triggered with the other hand (this way, left-handed pol are not left out).
    To be successful, this has to sound smooth so I can't wait to test this.

    Previously I have created my stuff in flash but since there is no multi touch, I was never able to include such features.

    If!!!! this works, than I have an application that makes a five year old sound like someone who has had three years of lessons. If, I can make that work?

    I'll do a YouTube video later today ... It's noon and I just got up ...

    They say the "proof" is in the pudding!

    I just tested a new feature of the instrument i'm working on and so far, I can play 11 keys, each has a sound sample assigned to it AND! I have three additional buttons, that play a pattern sequence in the key of C, G7 and F.
    This way, what ever is played on the instrument can sound like two or more people are playing.

    The good news is that this feature is tested and working!

    The iPad is actually amazing because it lets me do things that I was not able to do with Flash! (you can't touch this ;)
    Basically, that changes everything because I can market the instrument differently.
    For example, now I can have an accordion that can do the Tango or an electric piano or saxophone that can play the blues etc ...
    The possibilities are endless and I just spent an hour playing without a brake. That is a good sign ;)
