Curious about Doodle Graphics

I was just curious. Are doodle games hand drawn and scanned through the computer or are they just cheaply made through a nice program. I was looking through apps and it looks like both, but I'm not sure. Please reply.
Thanks

you are right that they are both.

my games are drawn, inked and scanned in. but others are drawn right in illustrator using a tablet.

Yeah, they're usually drawn and scanned in. Most devs who can't do more than doodle artwork by themselves usually don't have a drawing tablet kicking around. However, if you can help it... doodle art has been done to death and looks cheap. Even doodle jump looks cheap. If you can draw better than doodles, do so. I guarantee it will look nicer.

The one thing I do like about drawn and scanned artwork is that if you measure your artwork out to the right dimensions and the lines are decent (they don't have to be smooth and perfect) the drawing looks really good on the small screen. I found that if you want to scan in artwork which will look good on both types of iPhone screens (regular res and high res), draw your artwork on a sheet of 8.5 x 14 business paper. It's the same ratio roughly (the exact is 8.888e x 13.333e inches) of an iPhone/iPod screen. Use the whole area (or envision that as the whole screen) of the paper and make sure that the dimensions of your characters/artwork, etc matches size to screen ratio when you scale it down. Scan the paper at normal settings and depending on line thickness it will look nice. A 0.5mm or less pen will produce a 1px line. Regular 0.7mm pencils/pens will produce up to 2px. A fine marker with a will produce a 3 to 4px line.

Cool. I was just curious to how they did it. It seemed obvious that they would draw and scan it in, but some of the doodle art I have seen were drawn with tablets.
