My retina background looks like crap :-(

I made a blurry background with gaussian blur (to see in another topic).

Now when I test my game on the iphone4, i can clearly see the edges in the color gradation and it looks like crap.

The png is 72 dpi and everything should be fine.

I think GS compresses it so it looks like crap.

I think it has to be power of 4 or something like that.

it is 960x640 how retina resolution needs to be.

    But I will try around.

Consider yourself lucky! At least with GS, there is always "someone" who can point you (or us) in the right direction.

Is it banding? If so that's a bug in box2d. As a workaround you can add a slight noise to breakup the ban dings.

    Tshirtbooth knows more about it

What do you mean with "banding"?

I tried everything, but there are always stains on it, like it were some GIF image.

i think he means that gradients will not be smooth. You will see stripes instead of a perfectly even fade from one color to another.

    Ah ok.
I will try to make some noise to it.

Thanks guys, you are my heroes!

I used the filter "noise" in photoshop and added 1% noise to the image.

    Now it looks fantastic!
You can't see the noise, but the gradient edges are gone too!

    Cool!

    Thanks!
